Slovak International Clinical Trials Day 2019 (Slovak ICTD 2019)

The Slovak International Clinical Trials Day ICTD 2019 took place on 30th May 2019 in Bratislava. This event was organized by Ministry of Health of the Slovak Republic in cooperation with the research infrastructure SLOVACRIN with the participation of ECRIN General Director Jacques Demotes and leaders of national infrastructures within V4 countries, i.e., CZECRIN which is based at the Masaryk University in Brno, HECRIN at the University of Pésc in Hungary and representatives from Poland.

Slovakia was represented by the CEO of SLOVACRIN and the Dean of UPJŠ LF prof. Daniel Pella. The main objective of this event was improvement of cooperation between healthcare providers, medical, scientific, and technical faculties, and specialised medical institutions. The main topic of this international event was international support of biomedicine research and its improvement by creating systematic approach to academic clinical trials in the V4 countries and also biobanking, which is absent in Slovakia at the time. An invitation on this event was accepted by the representatives of partner European infrastructure for biobanking BBMRI-ERIC.

The direction of Slovakia in the area of support for academic clinical trials and biomedicine was presented by representatives of the Ministry of Health of the Slovak Republic and the State Institute for Drug Control. Several investigators and researchers presented the benefits of selected academic clinical trials, and in particular cases suggested possible forms of cooperation with SLOVACRIN.
